How can I use the contact data CANDDi gives me?

Follow

This is a potentially confusing area and will vary dependent on:

  • Person Status e.g. Prospect or Customer
  • Contact method e.g. Direct Mail, Telephone, Email, SMS, Re-marketing, Social Media etc.
  • Person Type i.e. If contacting on a B2B or B2C level
  • Collection method i.e. via CANDDi Capture, Website Enquiry, Click Through

Person Status

Irrespective of contact channel or person type if the person identified is a customer there are no restriction on how you are able to contact that individual (over and above standard Direct Marketing legislation).

When a contact is not yet a customer and therefore a prospect this becomes more complicated as the permitted contact method will vary dependent on contact channel.

The below provides a brief overview of what is our recommendation for each variable

If by Capture/ Website Enquiry

OK to market to. Typically when making an enquiry this suffices as a first-party opt-in and therefore does not require specific (tick box) consent. Ensure generalised email compliance. If consumer focus consider adding opt-in statement visible at point of submission

Telemarketing

Must screen against TPS/ cTPS if cold (unsolicited) engagement

All

OK when replying to enquiry through capture or contact form (no requirement for preference service screening). Must screen against TPS (advise CTPS also) when cold engagement

SMS

Yes

Must be specific SMS opt-in for marketing

All

Avoid SMS marketing as requires specific opt-ins
